Ben Smith was one of brightest, most honest, creative, independent, kindest souls we could call a friend. He made a path through life that was his own. He shared it with us much longer than expected - as children we learned, due to various health issues, he wasn't expected to live beyond 25. But he persevered - most recently due to the support and love provided by his beloved Jane Poe.
Ben's path was not one that brought them financial security. And while little we could do in tribute could match what he gave us, we can remember him by supporting Jane.
We have, therefore, created this fund raiser - the funds she will have full discretion over - for medical bills, debts, anything. Please contribute in Ben's memory whatever you can.
Who we are: We ( Helen Batchelder, James and John Yates, John Barba, Kit Holland, Marty Poutry) knew Ben when we were kids in Massachusetts. We virtually reconnected since - and as both Ben and John Y. found themselves in the San Francisco Bay Area, they saw a bit more of each other in recent years https://www.facebook.com/john.w.yates
