Ben Meyer's accident expenses

Donation protected
As many of you know, Ben was in a traffic accident over two weeks ago.  While trying twice to avoid deer crossing the rural road he was traveling on, he lost control and his car left the road and rolled over 3 times.  The car was totaled, but providentially, the passenger comparement was not crushed. Nonetheless, Ben suffered injuries to his head, neck, ankle and most severely to his left thumb.

The accident happened late at night, the road was deserted and there was no cell service. In shock, Ben set out on foot to find help. He somehow reached Leah's mom's house, but couldn't get in because Leah, Adrienne and Leah's mom were away in LaCrosse. To stay warm Ben got into a van and passed out. He awoke in the ER in Rhinelander, uncertain how he got there.

Subsequently, he learned that his home had been searched without his permission and that he was being charged with leaving the scene of an accident. To add insult to injury, because of a pot pipe found in his house , which although legal in his homestate of Colorado is considered drug paraphernalia in Wisconsin; he is suspected of selling drugs and family services has opened an investigation on his fitness to be a parent.  Needless to say, this is an absurd conclusion, but Ben  felt that he needed to hire a lawyer. Therefore,  in addition to medical expenses, he and Leah will now have legal expenses as well. Oh, and they'll need a new car too!

Bills (and fines) are already coming in and many more are expected in the future.  Ben has had surgery on his left thumb and we pray that he'll still be able to use the thumb in his career as a chef, but there are  sizable out of pocket expenses as well.  To date, the small amount of money they'd saved up to hopefully be a down payment for a house is already gone. Therefore, please consider a financial contribution, large or small.  All contributions will be greatly appreciated.
