Ben & Erin Boado Medical Fund

Some dear family friends of ours have a daughter, Erin Boado, married to Ben Boado.  Ben and Erin have a 15 month old son named Griffin who was born with pulmonary interstitial glycogenosis (PIG), which is caused by an abnormal accumulation of glycogen in the interstitial space in his lungs, which is where oxygen is exchanged. He also has underdeveloped lungs, or pulmonary hypoplasia. There have been very few reported cases of this combination of conditions, and most have required lung transplants. So, not only is PH rare and difficult to treat, it is usually not the only complication. This battle has been ongoing since his birth but has worsened over the last month as he contracted RSV and Pneumonia. Currently as we write this, he is fighting for his life in PICU in a Houston Children’s Hospital with a partially collapsed lung  among other complications. We ask for everyone’s prayers in his full recovery, but even with a full recovery, his many hospital stays have resulted in enormous hospital bills of upwards of $50k after insurance. Our goal is to help raise at least $20,000 to help mitigate at least part of those hospital costs. In order to do so, we ask our friends, family and community to help in any way possible as the Boados fight for Griffin’s full recovery. Please know that any amount is generous and we hope that you take a moment and say a prayer and give a blessing to this family in whatever amount you can.
