Be My Miracle!

Greetings! To anyone that comes across my story I pray it uplifts as well as having the heart to help. My name is Latasha Floynetia Dennis (surname is supposed to be Nichols), and I'm on dialysis. I've been on dialysis for over two years and it's been a challenge. Dialysis can be frustrating and intimidating. Despite these difficult challenges I think about how far I've come to overcome these trials with courage, hope and faith! Before I continue into my present situation here's the backstory. Backstory... For under a decade I've endured a divorce, toxic people and homelessness. Even though I went through these difficulties in my life I decided to go to college (Ashford University online) The classes were flexible and therapeutic. It took my mind off my troubles. There were times I had to quit college when my life had obstacles. I got over my divorce which left me to endure homelessness. I would sleep on couches or forced to sleep on the streets. I've never been on drugs or alcohol or anything that would harm myself or others, so I didn't understand the cruelty I received. So I left toxic people and dealt with being homeless. While being homeless I went back to college and did my schoolwork at the local public library's computers and sometimes my used virus infected laptop. My degree was in Early Childhood Education. I wanted to be a childcare administrator in order to better help children, family and other educators. In the process of being homeless I started to get sick. I had very high blood pressure and my diabetes was out of control. No stability and no money for some of my medicines catapulted my ailing health. Low and behold despite the situation I found a place to stay in order to finish college. I didn't have the money for graduation fees so a fundraiser helped me with fees! After graduating with my degree I moved from Oklahoma to Texas to start a new life and become an educator but ended up homeless again and living on the streets.Sometimes people tried to exploit me, while other people would give me money to stay in hotels for a short time, but back on the street I went. Sometimes homeless shelters were full where I slept outside. I was nearly raped by five men but they decided to beat me because I fought back. My health kept failing but finally I found a homeless shelter that housed me. In the process of living in the shelter I nearly died. My kidney function decreased to 6 percent. My blood levels dropped and I was going into shock. My life was saved when doctors placed a catheter into my chest to start immediate dialysis. I also received a blood transfusion. All this was happening while I was living at the homeless shelter! The staff at the homeless shelter became my family. I had the catheter in my chest for a year until my fistula in my arm matured for dialysis. The present... I got back on my feet! I had to work more than one job to get my apartment. I had to quit my jobs because dialysis has me very exausted. Hope came to me when a local transplant clinic decided to help. I was referred to a bariatric surgeon for a gastric sleeve to lose weight. If I go through with the surgery my named will be solidified on the transplant list. My medicare insurance will only cover 80 percent of the gastric sleeve along with other expenses that I cannot afford. It's difficult enough to pay bills and medications. Then someone volunteered to be a kidney donor but their expenses are a lot so they might change their mind. I just want another chance at life because all I wanted my whole life was to get married and have my own family along with a career to help people. I want to show my deceased parents that I'm not a quitter when they told me not to give up hope before they each died. I chose my fundraiser title because of the Whitney Houston song "Miracle." Please be my miracle. If my donation goal is reached I want to pay it forward by being a voice for someone else. I always wanted to run in a marathon for someone who cant due to their disability. My GoFundMe is for my gastric sleeve expenses to get kidney transplant expenses after the weightloss! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share! Awesome Sauce to ANYONE that donates as well as not giving up on life!
