By now many of you have heard about the tragic shooting death of Ryan Helbert--a victim of murder while working at Sonic Drive-in on Cornhusker Dr. in Bellevue on the evening of November 21, 2020.
Those who knew Ryan best would say he was a kind- hearted and generous soul, a loyal friend and fiercely dedicated to his family. He always had a huge smile on his face, loved to make everyone laugh and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
During the last hours of Ryan's time on this earth, he was working his shift at Sonic when a criminal open fired on Ryan and his co- workers. The Omaha World Herald reports this cold- blooded attack was in retaliation for the criminal's arrest three days earlier for identity theft and fraudulent use of another person's Sonic App to purchase $57.00 worth of food.
We all miss Ryan greatly. He was a loving son to Diana and Scott, a supportive brother to Adriene and Kymberlee and the most awesome uncle to Lucas. I have been lucky to call the Helbert family family when Ryan's sister, Kym, and I met in middle school and became the best of friends.
Please help us show Ryan's family that he made a great impact in this world and that his life was worth so much more.
