Dog SURVIVES after being hit by a TRAIN!
Bella is a 4 and a half year old lab mix that enjoys hiking, swimming, dressing up and playing fetch. She is a rescue puppy with a unique story.
Her parents, Shannon and Alex rescued Bella's mom, Maggie in June of 2010. When Maggie was rescued her parents brought her to the vet for a routine check-up and found out that she was pregnant. One month later Maggie had 7 puppies. Shanon and Alex cared for the family until they were old enough to be placed in forever homes. Bella was the one puppy that Shannon and Alex could not let go after finding forever homes for the other 6 puppies.
Being a Rescue dog, Maggie had habbits that were hard to break, she was a runner. Tragically, last January 2014, Maggie was hit by a car and did not survive. Bella, Shannon and Alex were devistated with the loss of Maggie but had eachother to get through the difficult time.
Bella is Shannon and Alex's  very special baby that means the world to them.       While both of Bella's parents were traveling, she ran away from a family member that was watching her. Bella's parents were heartbroken and helpless when they heard the news.
After 36 hours out in the cold, Bella's family recieved a phone call from the police that Bella was found but had been hit by a train. Thankfully, Bella was still alive and was able to pull herself off of the tracks.
With the help of Haverford Township Police Department, Septa and Bella's grandparents, Bella was rescued from the tracks and rushed to Keystone Emergency Veterinary Hospital.
The doctors and staff at the Emergency Vet were wonderful. However, Bella's injuries were quite extensive. She suffered from a collapsed lung, cracked ribs, broken teeth, three large laserations (needing more than 40 stitches) and significant head trauma.      Against all odds Bella is making improvements daily and all are hopeful for a fully recovery from this horrific accident. She truely had many guardian angels watching over her as well as countless people praying for her safety and recovery.
Unfortunately, the amount of care needed to help Bella during this emergency situation, has left her family with expensive vet bills as well as 24/7 care and monitoring. They need as much help as they can get.
Bella is making improvements each day but still will need a wide-range of reconstructive dental work in the near future as well as a possible MRI to assess additional head trauma.          It is truely a miracle that Bella has SURVIVED being hit by a TRAIN. Bella and her family would appreciate any donation possible to help aid in the recovery of this fun, loving and active young dog.

Thank you and God bless,
Shannon, Alex and Bella <3
