Bella’s Bloat Surgery
Donation protected
Tara and Doug Hall of Katy are a couple that rescues can always count on. They foster for IDOG Rescue, Lola’s Lucky Day and Mutts and Meows—constantly and consistently opening up their homes for dogs in need (including dogs with health and behavioral issues that are difficult to place). Currently the amazing Hall family has two foster dogs as well as their own dogs Bella, Buddy & Shelly.
In fact, just this week one of the Hall’s foster dogs came down with Parvo. She is doing well but that wasn’t all this week had in store for the Hall’s.
Late Friday night, the Hall’s sweet angel dog Bella began acting uncomfortable and was unable to settle and eventually acting like she needed to throw up but not being able to. Tara and Doug knew immediately whatever was going on was an emergency and Tara suspected bloat. They rushed Bella to Blue Pearl off of Katy Freeway where she was evaluated immediately. Tara was correct, Bella was bloating and would require immediate life saving surgery. The Hall’s were given an estimate of $4500-6000 for Bella’s surgery. Of course, the only option was to do whatever it took to save Bella’s life. Unfortunately, the impact of COVID has been felt in the Hall family and Doug is between jobs at the moment so this financial burden has come at a very tough time.
Bella is a tough girl. She was adopted from Poodle Rescue of Houston when she was 3. She was matted, twenty pounds underweight and undersocialized. Seven years later, as you can see in the photos, she’s the belle of the ball in the Hall household. She’s part of the Hall crew that teaches new fosters the lay of the land.
Early this morning, Bella came through surgery and is now stable and alert. Her current medical bills are at $4000 and she will need to stay atleast one more night in order to be released. Additionally, the vet who performed the surgery found a tumor on Bella’s spleen and needed to remove that to send off for pathology.
I am creating this Gofundme because the Hall’s have stepped up for COUNTLESS animals...even when its inconvenient and even when its messy. This is a time that doodle/poodle/rescue lovers can give back to a family that never turns their back on saving a life. Please show your support for this sweet family by giving anything you can and sharing to other dog moms and dads. They would be forever grateful during this really tough time.
