Bella's communication device

We are here hoping to raise money to purchase a special speech to text device to assist Izabella (Bella) to return to school. Bella, the daughter of a close friend has recently become deaf at age 14.

Bella suffers from a very rare genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2). NF2 causes tumours to grow on the nervous system causing a multitude of medical problems. Recently, Bella had her second acoustic neuroma removed in a 20-hour brain surgery; this left Bella completely deaf.  Through an auditory implant, Bella is able to hear some loud sounds but not speech. 

Bella loves reading and has a great interest in Greek mythology.  Prior to being diagnosed three years ago, Bella was among the top in her class.  As a result of her illness, she has had to miss a substantial portion of schooling. 

Bella hopes to be a Prep teacher when she grows up.  To enable Bella to get back to learning and participating at school she needs a specialised software purchased from America called Interact AS, plus a portable iPad device to run it.  At a cost of $3400.00, we are appealing for your donation.
