Belize: Therapy Abroad Trip!
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
I have recently been offered an amazing opportunity to travel to Belize with a program called Therapy Abroad. There, I will work hand-in-hand with Speech-Language Pathologists, helping Belizean children in need of therapy. It has been an absolutely privilege to be chosen as a member of this trip. I am looking forward to learning more about this field of work, while putting my knowledge to the test first hand.
For those who know me, you know that I am a hard-working, dedicated student and preschool teacher. With my recent change of position to Sign Language Teacher, I have been doing everything in my power to ensure a positive learning environment to promote rich language development, while implementing techniques that help with clear communication for children aged 2-5. This role has completely changed my perception of teaching, learning, and the importance of strong communication skills.
Speech-Language Pathology has always been in the back of my mind. Weighing pros and cons, and the natural exploration of other fields of work/school, I was hesitant about starting a brand new career path. But, with my decision finally made, I am extremely excited to pursue a career as a SLP, and what better way to start than in BELIZE!!
While this trip seems absolutely fantastic, it is unlikely that I will be able to afford this on my own. With being a full-time student, it is rare that I have the funds to put towards something this extreme. I would be forever in debt if you, or anyone you know, would even slightly consider helping me achieve this milestone in my career. It is my dream to make a difference in at least one person's life, and I believe this trip is a perfect place to start.
Thanks for reading!
