Belen's Surgery & Cancer Support

Donation protected
Belen Boll is a fighter, but cancer keeps trying to knock her down.

In October of 2016, Belen was diagnosed with rectal cancer. As a single-mother raising a then two-year old, she was frightened, for more than her own life - she feared how she would survive the treatment, surgery and recovery and care for her sweet baby, Johnnie Girl.

After an aggressive round of both chemo and radiation, she had surgery in January, 2017. Her recovery meant she could not work or participate in day-to-day life for several months.

Her recovery was long and hard, but by the grace of God, she survived.

Now she needs our help, and we hope you will consider giving to a very deserving mother facing another chapter in her health crisis.

Currently, Belen works part time at a non-profit that seeks to eradicate sex trafficking, and seasonally for the Arizona Cardinals during their home games, however, as a part-time employee, neither job offers her health insurance, sick pay or any sort of disability pay.

On April 3, exactly 18 months to the day of the first life-changing diagnosis, she faces another round of surgery to repair some of the debilitating effects of the first surgery.

The physical impact that the next surgery will take on her body is unknown. She has been told that she will be in the hospital for three to 10 days and then she will face another long recovery that will likely last months.

The risks are frightening-- including a high risk of sepsis. Belen will bed-ridden, cut and sutured on her abdomen, and she will not be able to pick up and cuddle her now four-year old daughter. In addition she cannot drive, clean, walk her dog, etc. She needs help getting to follow up doctor appointments, and cooking the special food she requires for survival. She will rely on friends in her community to do these things, and they have turned out to prepare for that recovery.

Most heavy on her mind, however, is how she will be able to do what many of us take for granted – pay her mortgage, utilities, and medical supplies required post surgery.

Belen has been saving what she can, however not being able to work for several months will drain her savings and could potentially rack up life-altering debt, or an inability to pay for her basic needs.

Belen has always been there for others. Whether she is helping to raise money for various causes (including others suffering from cancer), reaching out to a fellow mommy who needs a break, or educating others about sex trafficking she often places others’ well-being in front of her own.

Now it is time for her. Won’t you help? No amount is too small, please consider a donation, and thank you for reading this story—please share it within your networks. Thank you, kindly.

Sincerely,
