We Lost EVERYTHING!

We've lived in our house in Friendswood, TX for 18 years. We've never even come remotely close to flooding. So you can imagine our horror at 4 in the morning Sunday, August 27th when we watched helplessly as our house filled with water. By the time we were rescued, by boat at 9:30am, the water was up to our waists IN OUR HOME. I've heard several people that didn't flood comment that a few inches of water isn't that much but what people fail to realize is when it is in your living room, 1 inch of water is too much. Imagine 3 feet and knowing that after we left it continued to rise. We are still unable to return to our home 4 days later and will likely not be able to live in it for many months. We are more blessed than most and have family to stay with but will have to replace everything we own as well as rebuild our house and take time to mourn the history records of our family that are irreplaceable. It will be a long, emotional, backbreaking year. We deplore asking for help but have been brought to our knees and feel we have no choice but to reach out. Thank-you for anything you can spare. All money received WILL be going to necessities ONLY; walls, floor, cleaning materials, appliances, etc.
