Help us bring back one home at a time in Beirut

We are a group of young men and women who launched Beit Beit-بيت بيت, a micro-relief initiative to renovate one house at a time in the peripheries of the Beirut blast. We are targeting the Beirut areas of Jeitawi, Karantina, Zoukak El Blat, Monot that are still under-served by the relief efforts for now.
Since many of our brothers and sisters are working on many beautiful initiatives for food aid, medical supplies, alternative housing and repair work, we want to focus on repairing one house at a time in areas that were already deprived before the murderous blast.
The objective is to repair 20-30 homes (vs initial objective of 4-5 homes). Cost of the repair for each home will vary between $500-$5,000.
1- Engineers on our team are assessing the damages and evaluating the cost of the identified houses. We will share all the BOQs with you.
2- We will then help each house to fundraise online for the works needed.
3- The last phase of our project is helping house owners and tenants with our network of handymen workers, who will help fix glass, Aluminium, carpentry, paint, electricity etc…
We will of course share all receipts online.

A note on sending funds to the Beit Beit campaign:
- Withdrawal and giving the funds to the intended recipients i.e. the households who need their hope repaired: GoFundMe does not allow people with bank accounts in Lebanon to withdraw money from their platform. In order to facilitate the transfer of funds, a member of the Beit Beit team based in the UK will withdraw the money to their UK bank account and send the exact amount to another member of the team with a Lebanese bank account, who will take care of distributing the funds to the intended recipients (or paying directly for suppliers and labor). We will of course retain all the proofs of transfer and publish them here in due course for full transparency
- Sending money from Lebanon: For donations coming from Lebanon, we will be using the support of a sister organization, Phenomenal Women. Phenomenal Women is a social enterprise that links women living in difficult situations and survivors of gender based violence to better opportunities, whether jobs, trainings or business contacts, to become financially independent and leave the never-ending cycle of violence.
