<div>Al meer dan 10 jaar is Athos een bijzondere werkplek in Maastricht. Een plek waar mensen met een afstand tot de arbeidsmarkt niet aan de zijlijn staan, maar juist volop meedoen. Waar talent, ambacht en samenwerking centraal staan. Waar iedereen welkom is — precies zoals die is.

<div>Elke week vinden bijna 200 mensen hun plek bij Athos. In onze ateliers, het restaurant, de houtwerkplaats, het leeratelier, het naaiatelier of bij creatieve ambachten zoals mandenvlechten. Samen bouwen we aan zelfvertrouwen, vaardigheden en een toekomst.

<div>Maar Athos is meer dan een werkplek. Het is een gemeenschap. Een plek waar mensen uit de buurt samenkomen, waar verbinding ontstaat tussen bewoners, ondernemers en organisaties. Een kleine inclusieve samenleving, midden in Maastricht.

<div>De afgelopen maanden hebben we flinke tegenslagen gehad. Veranderingen in financiering, oplopende kosten en meerdere defecten hebben ons hard geraakt.

<div>De grootste klap: onze lasergraveermachine — essentieel voor het maken van onze producten — is kapot gegaan. Zonder deze machine kunnen we een belangrijk deel van ons werk niet voortzetten.

<div>Daardoor staat het voortbestaan van Athos onder druk.

<div><strong>Waarom dit zo belangrijk is</strong>

<div>Voor onze deelnemers is Athos geen luxe, maar een basis. Een plek waar ze zich gezien voelen, waar ze groeien en waar ze erbij horen.

<div>Zonder Athos is er voor veel van hen geen vergelijkbare plek. Geen veilige omgeving om te werken, te leren en sociale contacten op te bouwen.
