Pakistan’s 2025 flood crisis has devastated communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Flash floods and landslides have caused:
- Over 739 people have died since June because of intense monsoon flooding across northern Pakistan, with 307 fatalities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) alone, and additional deaths are being reported in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and AJK (Reuters, The Guardian).
- Numerous households, schools, and health facilities have been destroyed or severely damaged, including roads, bridges, and vital infrastructure across districts such as Buner, Swat, Bajaur, and Battagram.
- Floods worsen menstrual hygiene management (MHM) by disrupting supply chains and sanitation infrastructure, while cultural taboos and lack of facilities increase infection risks and strip dignity from those menstruating.
- In previous floods, women have resorted to using tree leaves or resorting to unsanitary conditions, increasing their health risks, and underscoring the urgency of menstrual kits.
- Pregnant women are cut off from health facilities due to washed-out roads and damaged clinics. In many affected areas, women are forced to deliver in overcrowded shelters or in unsafe spaces without medical supplies and in absence of skilled birth attendants posing serious health risks.
We have been receiving calls for immediate support from communities we have been working with and our partners. We are turning to our community, supporters, and allies to help us raise funds to distribute menstrual health and delivery kits to girls and women in the hardest-hit areas. These kits will be delivered through trusted local volunteers and partner organizations already working on the ground.
Please reach out to us via our social media or our email at [email redacted] if you have any queries. We will also be sharing regular updates on the fundraiser and use of funds on our instagram at https://www.instagram.com/baithak.pak/

About Baithak
Baithak is a women-led, grassroots, registered nonprofit organization working for the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of young girls and women especially those living in communities affected by climate crises. To date, we have impacted the lives of over 500,000 girls and women across Pakistan and beyond.
Our Work on Climate Crises:
The climate crisis in Pakistan has disproportionately affected women and girls. During the devastating 2022 floods, Baithak responded by distributing over 10,000 menstrual health kits in flood-affected communities. We also created safe spaces for girls and women to support them in navigating safety concerns and provide guidance to first-time menstruators.
To push for systemic change, we co-created the Gender-Responsive Climate Action (GICA) Toolkit, developed through wide consultations. This toolkit was recognized globally and awarded the Gender Just Climate Solutions Award at COP28.
We have worked directly with Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh and District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) to integrate gender action plans into disaster response strategies ensuring women’s needs are not left behind during disasters.
Through our initiative GRACE, we are strengthening the capacity of grassroots organizations and frontline workers for gender-equitable climate action. With our Behnchara Collective (Sisterhood Collective), we are building leadership and resilience among 25 grassroots activists, amplifying women’s voices in climate justice.
Baithak is once again on the frontlines, working to support women and girls in climate-affected communities with the help of our team members and partners.
