BEHIND CHURCH DOORS

This GoFundMe campaign is to raise production funds for production scheduling, talent and crew commitments, publicity, analogue recording, and other essential production activities.

“Behind Church Doors” is feature film adaptation of a fiction novel by Sylvia Brown-Roberts. It is a story of forgiveness and redemption. Set in the Christian church, it is the story of NikkiMac, a single female, who like many Christian women, has a colorful history but knows that her sins were forgiven when she obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ. Although she’s determined to live a faithful Christian lifestyle, NikkiMac experiences a tug-of-war between the flesh and the Spirit. Sometimes, she doesn’t measure up to what God expects of her, but she gets right back up when she falls. Over time, she may realize that faithful Christian living is not achieved by willpower alone, but by a dependence on God.

Behind Church Doors Productions (BCDP) is managed by the team of Tracy L.F. Worley, Executive Producer, and Sylvia Brown-Roberts, Co-Executive Producer and author of the fiction novel on which the movie is based. In the past six months, BCDP has completed a pitch trailer (take a look at it here) that depicts the premise, approach, and idea for the movie. In the next 12 months, BCDP expects to begin principal photography, on the following tentative schedule:

Production fundraising: March - May 2019 (phase two); June 2019 - February 2020 (phase three)
Pre-production: May 2020 - March 2021
Production: March - July 2021

This is an exciting time in Christian film making. According to advocacy group Faith Driven Consumer, 17% of Americans make purchasing decisions primarily based on their religious beliefs. That includes motion pictures and theater. The key to successful motion pictures is that the motion picture directors pay more attention to their core, or target, audience. Our plan is to emphasize substance over form. Behind Church Doors Productions will make an original, distinctive motion picture that is entertaining and uniquely true to God’s word.

The Christian motion picture market has grown exponentially in recent years, and “Behind Church Doors” deals with some heavy topics, giving the viewer a lighthearted peak into living obediently to the commands of Christ. The movie cuts a wide swath through the Christian cinema market. It combines comedy with spiritual edification with the consequences of our decisions.

Risks and challenges:

Although there is no boilerplate for making a successful motion picture, the Production Team’s chances are increased with a strong story and the right elements, meaning the right director and cast and other creative people involved. Being able to greenlight our own product, with the support of donors, allows the production team to make a quality movie without interference from outsiders.

The motion picture industry is highly speculative and inherently risky. There can be no assurance of the economic success of any motion picture, since the revenues derived from the production and distribution of a motion picture depend primarily upon its acceptance by the public, which cannot be predicted. The commercial success of a motion picture also depends upon the quality and acceptance of other competing motion pictures released into the marketplace at or near the same time, general economic factors and other tangible and intangible factors, all of which can change and cannot be predicted with certainty.

However, to minimize this risk, management plans to participate as much as possible throughout the process and will aim to mitigate financial risks where possible. Fulfilling this goal depends on the timing of financing, the ability to obtain distribution contracts with satisfactory terms, the receipt of completion bonding, and the continued participation of the current management.

A message from the Executive Producers:

We are raising production funds to complete production of "Behind Church Doors," a movie for Christians and the world, by Christians — a story of love and forgiveness.  Behind Church Doors Productions will benefit from this campaign and the funds will be used to produce the movie.  This support will mean that the executive producers can shoot the entire movie, shop it to film festivals, and solicit distribution.  If you are interested in investment opportunities, inbox us at [email redacted]. We will be eternally grateful for your support.
