Becoming Dr. Ford

Hello Dear Friends, 

I come to you as humbly as I know how for I am in need of your help. I have come to the point in my life where I am preparing to apply to medical school as well as to launch my creative business through my poetry. For as long as I can remember I have had sweet memories of my mother believing in my dream to become a doctor. She would always say that she knew I would accomplish this goal even before I was in school on this path. She would also celebrate my writing, my poetry and my art. Never staying quiet about how beautiful my mind was and how people needed to hear what I had to say. I never really understood her, for I didn't yet see all the greatness that she saw in me, until now.


Recently I lost my mother to negligence and lack of care from our healthcare system. Every day, I carry the fact that the doctors who were supposed to protect her life, instead neglected it. This angers me and it hurts because all I can think about are the families that are going through the same thing when all they need is a doctor who cares and who won't give up on them. This is why I need your help.


Combining both my love of poetry and writing with my passion for becoming a healer I am determined to change the world that we live in. I want to use my poetry as a lasting reminder to all who read it that we are all connected and we are never alone. I intend on doing this by not only printing and selling my own poetry books but also by entering into Slam poetry competitions. Any funds I receive from winning competitions as well as the profit made from selling my books will in turn go to funding my medical school application process as well as my education while in medical school.


While I am ambitious and have a plan to use my love of poetry to assist in financing my education, I need help getting started. This process starts with the initial cost to self print my books of poetry as well as the travel and entry fee cost for Slam competitions. With your help I will be able to continue my journey to create content and art needed for all as well as to help me stay strong on the path to becoming Dr. Ford. 


I am forever grateful to my mother for always seeing in me what I couldn't yet see in myself and to all of you for reading this and contributing to this cause. The world needs more art as well as better doctors, here is to my dreams of providing both.
