Becky's Cancer Battle

Becky is a loving wife and a mother to 3 sweet little boys under the age of 5. Our youngest is 3 months old.

Becky has been having on and off leg pain for the last several years and it was just discovered that the leg pain wasn't a lack of exercise or stretching - it was a tumor - and apparently one that has been growing for a very long time now and is 19cm long.

Chest CT scans and x-rays have shown that nothing has spread so far, but her biopsy on March 28th revealed that this tumor is malignant.

Her type of cancer is a very rare one world wide: synovial sarcoma. These types of cancers like to spread through the blood stream as well as the lymphnodes. A P.E.T. Scan was done on April 15th just to be sure that nothing has spread. Results will come back hopefully within the next week.

Her oncologist is recommending a total of 5 cycles of agressive chemotherapy as well as raditaion. Surgery will happen somewhere in the middle of all of that. 

One cycle of chemotherapy will consist of 4 (6-8hr.) consecutive days and cycles will occur every three weeks. 

Some side effects may include: hair loss, dry mouth, low immunity, nausea/vomiting, infertility, heart damage, etc. 

According to her oncologist, a blood tranfusion is usually needed at least once during the entire chemo process. 

Rare side effects of chemotherapy could include lukemia or bone marrow cancer.

This fund will go towards future surgery, chemotherapy, radiation treatments and recovery costs that will be required as well as child/family care and medical insurance due to Matt's recent unemployment.
