Becca's Service Dog

Donation protected
This month I was diagnosed with epilepsy. This means my independence is temporarily taken away for at least six months. This is difficult and life-changing, because it requires daily medications and monitoring. It's been difficult to not be scared or worried about my health because the cause of my seizures are still unknown. One of the main concerns of epilepsy is being left alone, especially for sleeping in case of a seizure. A service dog would be a perfect fit for me, but financially it can't happen.
A seizure alert dog can warn their guardian of an impending seizure, lick the face of a person semi-conscious or unconscious, bark to alert someone of a medical emergency, and find a person to help their guardian. All these things could help in case of emergency. Being diagnosed with epilepsy, if a service dog alerted me a seizure was coming I could take a rescue medication and avoid the seizure altogether. The dog could change my quality of life.
Applying for a service dog is a long process, and in the rare case I am not able to be placed with one in the time being, all proceeds would go to the Epilepsy Foundation and medical expenses (MRIs, EEGs, medication cost, etc). Dogs cannot be applied for until funds are available, so once I am able to raise enough money I will begin the process.
A service dog could be life-changing, give me a companion, and potentially save me from future seizures. Any donations would be appreciated and bring me one step closer to applying for and receiving a dog.
