Becca's Broken Heart Fund

Earlier this year, my best friend Becca was diagnosed with an atrial septal defect, also known as a hole in her heart. This defect has been present since birth, but was never enough of an issue to have been caught by a doctor. However, after a series of ever-increasing symptoms, Becca went to the right doctor who was finally able to pinpoint the issue. On August 29, 2018, she was finally able to have open heart surgery to stitch up the hole in her heart! She's tired and in a great deal of pain, but she's doing extremely well for the circumstances.

Because of the myriad doctor's visits, excess heat this summer causing physical distress, and an unexpected job loss, Becca has been struggling to make ends meet. She possesses an extremely loving and tight knit support network and too much work ethic for such a small person, and we have all been working together to support her throughout these hard times. At this time, however, the medical and cost of living bills are mounting, and we wanted to reach out to the community to see what we can give back to sweet baby Becca. 

She has advocated for those unable to do so for themselves her entire life. Whether it be a lonely child at school, a neighbor in need of a favor, a  sick animal at the animal hospital where she has been a veterinary technician for over ten years, or one of the dozens of dogs and puppies that she has assisted through rescue transports, Becca is always willing to help those in need. She never asks for help, even when she needs it. Thus, we want to show her that we appreciate all that she does, and most of all, we appreciate her big, finally-whole, heart .
