There is no bigger challenge then when cancer comes into your family's lives. The emotional distress and fear that comes with a cancer diagnosis is insurmountable and touches every member of the family, and not to mention the physical pain of the disease inside of the body carrying it. Now tack on the financial burden and it can seem like there is no hope at all.
My mom, Susan Shari Caballero was diagnosed with Stage 4b vulvar cancer this past April after months of pushing through the emotional and physical pain of knowing and fearing what was happening inside of her body. In order to decrease her physical pain, she underwent radiation which proved successful in shrinking the 3 tumors located on her vulvar and groin. However, it did not rid of the cancer completely nor did it rid of her emotional anxiety.
Three months has passed and the pain has gotten worse and the tumors have begun to grow again. My family and I are looking into alternative treatments. With the help and support of close friends, we learned about a less conventional method involving cannabis, which has been researched and studied to prove effective with subsiding pain and reducing anxiety. And since much of her anxiety stems from the financial stress, we need our family and friends to help us get this important alternative care. She shouldn't have to suffer more or decline trying a treatment that could potentially help ease her pain just because of money.
Every dollar donated would go towards her medical expenses - the outstanding radiation bills, the $4,500 that it will cost to take part in the cannabis treatment, the transportation and hotel costs that will accrue in doing so as well as any supplements or prescriptions she needs. And it is with a full heart that me and my family thank you for your help, even the smallest donations will make the biggest impact to us and are appreciated more than words could ever say.
