Our Beautiful Bec Arena

Donation protected
Our beautiful Bec Arena passed away on Sunday 3rd September 2017. In her own words, Bec was a nutella fiend, car karaoke queen, grammar nazi and cystic fibrosis sufferer... but to those who knew and loved her she was so so so so much more.

Bec was an animal lover, a wife, a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a cousin, a niece, an aunty, a best friend, a friend, a cystic fibrosis FIGHTER, an inspiration to all and a mother to her and her husband Gareth's much longed for baby boy... It's this last part of who Bec was that has made losing her so much harder to comprehend and which has left Gareth in a position he never thought he would be in- facing life as a parent to their newborn son without his beautiful wife at his side.

Bec and Gareth's dream of becoming parents was made a reality by the enormous kindess of their dear friend and surrogate Jess and her husband Jeremy. See their story here- https://www.facebook.com/bec.graham.9/videos/10155619023374345/

And whilst this process has given Bec and Gareth a gift no money can buy, it has still left them with huge ongoing expenses- medical bills, counselling fees, numerous flights  to get Jess here from her home in South Africa, lawyers fees and so much more.  Many of these expenses were planned for, however, Bec's passing has brought additional unexpected costs and has left Gareth facing these on a sole income.

On top of this, Gareth hadn't planned to be off work to care for their son. It was to be Bec's role to take time off work to be a stay at home Mum and his to be a working Dad supporting his family.

Bec was never one to talk about her hardships or to ask for help, even though she was battling personal struggles greater than we could ever truly understand. And now, even though he is now facing this huge financial and emotional mountain on his own, Gareth is just the same.

We've set this page up, not only to help Gareth with the expenses outlined above but also, and most importantly, to give him the opportunity to be a stay at home Dad to his and Bec's son for as long as is possible. It is Gareth's dream to have their baby at home with one of his parents at the most important initial stages of his life, so let's pull together and do what we can to make this happen.

You Got This Gareth, and we've all got you xx
