Beauty from Ashes

On the morning of January 26, 2013, a little before 4:00 a.m., my sister Sherena's boyfriend, Kenan, was awakened to shortly discover smoke and flames engulfing the front porch of their condo in Point Venture, Texas. He quickly woke my sister where they ran downstairs, gathering my two nieces and they ran out the sliding glass door of their bedroom through flames and ashes to safety. He ran back inside and rescued one of their dogs, but the second one, my 12 year-old niece Kalynn's best friend, didn't make it.
My sister ran to the neighbor's house where she kicked in the door to awaken him to safety. They stood in the street, watching their home and life belongings burn away, along with their neighbor's place and three other vacant rental condos.
Our family is so very grateful for the outpouring of love through prayers and requests to help. That being said, we have set up this site for online monetary donations to assist with immediate needs.

Sherena says: "Five more minutes and we would not be alive. Although I am blessed beyond words for my family making it out unharmed, we still mourn the loss of our furry family member and the tragic way we lost her. We miss you Roxy."
