Help Nicole afford lyme treatment

Donation protected
This is my 24 year old granddaughter, Nicole Phelps, she has chronic lyme disease . First allow me to tell you a little bit about Nicole's life and who she is. Her spirit is sweet and generous yet she is strongly independent and tenacious in her work ethic. Nicole walks her talk which is to serve others on the basis of her faith in God. Since she was a little girl she knew exactly what her career path would be, and worked hard to get there. Her desire and goal was to become a hairdresser and not just any hairdresser but the best she could be, with her own unique flair.  She put no limits on herself. Nicole studied in her chosen field. She acquired a local job and worked hard for three years after which she was sought after by a high-end salon. She studied in New York and California and received her teaching certificate. Nicole is a very responsible young lady and put every penny she could afford into her bank account. She bought herself a car, got her own apartment, paid for more training and still had a nice bank account. Nicole would set up a mini salon in Philadelphia and cut the hair of the homeless. This is who she is! 3 years ago Nicole began to get unusual symptoms. She thought it was the flu but it continued to get worse, and more symptoms began to appear. Severe fatigue, joint pain, skin sensitivity, digestive problems, sore throats, migraine headaches, rashes, heart palpitations, cognitive impairment, imbalance, blurred vision began to manifest. The doctors considered MS, mono, lymphoma, and on and on. Test after test resulted in no decisive answer. Medication was thrown around left and right. Nothing helped, she even had a tonsillectomy! He was tested for Lyme disease which came back negative. Hospitals, specialists, and family doctors throw their hands up. She began to get severely depressed and missed many days working at her beloved job. An infectious disease doctor was recommended. She hesitated because this treatment is not covered by insurance and it was extremely expensive. She decided to make an appointment anyway because her symptoms are getting worse. Her bank account shrunk considerably but what else could she do. The Infectious Disease doctor suspected lyme and used a cutting edge test which came back positive for Lyme disease with three co-infections. Antibiotics is the treatment of choice but she was allergic to every antibiotic used. Her autoimmune system was shot, her hormone levels were depleted. Everything she tried did nothing to fight this devastating disease. Again her bank account was decreasing to the point that she could no longer afford treatment. Her condition continued to go downhill rapidly with no hope of resolution. Now unable to work and no bank account, our family is doing the best we can do to help in any way we can, but the high expense of the treatment is beyond our resources. We recently found a prominent doctor who specializes in Lyme disease and has profound results in this field. Our goal is to request an appointment as soon as possible. Once again it all comes down to the financial burden. We would like to take this opportunity for Nicole to heal her body Mind and Spirit. It's regrettable that insurance does not cover this cruel disease. Doctors, insurance companies, and the general public need to be educated about the aftermath of chronic Lyme disease. Nicole will be dealing with this for the rest of her life because it was not dignosed for 3 years. More research is needed! More awareness of how this disease can affect anyone, anywhere! Testing should be accurate and treated as quickly as possible in order to prevent the debilitating results that it imposes on ones life. This tick born infectious diseases is a MONSTER!
Thank you all for reading Nicole's story. I hope you will educate yourself about this unforgiving culprit.  Be safe and vigilant.
Helpless yet hopeful,
Susan, Grandmom
