Dear friends,
Alicia is a smart and beautiful 15 year old girl who is clinging for life at the PICU at the Salah Foundation for Children's Hospital in Broward County, Fl, after being hit by a car on Friday, November 3rd, as she was crossing the street with her best friend.
Her prognosis is not very good unfortunately. She is currently on life support with multiple fractures and her parents and 4 siblings are hopeless at this time. She has irreversible loss of brain function and doctors say she has no chance of living. We still don't know what the future holds for this beautiful girl and her family, but they are devout Christians who are losing their most precious gift. As very close family friends, we are pleading with you to help this family by providing her parents the financial relief they so desperately need so they can be by her side without external burdens. Her mom, Isabel, is a hardworking and caring nanny and housekeeper, her dad, Pedro, fixes computers. They live day to day and have 4 other wonderful children to take care of.
Our hope with this fundraiser is to raise as much money as we can so this family can focus on Alicia and their own emotional healing.
The heartbreak that this family is living through cannot be explained with words. But we can give them a glimpse of hope by uniting, praying and donating.

My name is Paula Zagarra and I am from Bogota, Colombia. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA. I know Alicia through her mom, who has worked for me and my family for years in Broward County, FL. She is my kids nanny and helps with housework. She is like family to me. I love and care for her very much.
Hearing the news of Alicia's tragic accident changed my perspective on life, which is why a friend and I felt compelled to help them. Alicia's parents live paycheck to paycheck and will 100% need any funds that come their way. The funds received will be used to cover Alicia's funeral expenses. The remaining collected funds (if any), will be donated to the family. We have learned today that her funeral is going to cost around $11,472.00.
I will be withdrawing the funds and will personally go to the funeral home on Thursday to pay the service of around $5,000. The reason why I say "around" is because we will be finalizing details with the family tomorrow and we estimate it will be within the $5,000 range. The family visited two funeral homes and chose one of them. They also picked out the casket and other details that will be discussed tomorrow. The remaining funds will be put inside an envelope and will be given to the family.
The family also visited a couple of cemeteries today and chose one spot. The cemetery had to be paid in advance, so I have already paid that and will be reimbursed once I withdraw from this fund. The total costs of the cemetery were $6,472.00.
The reason why I am withdrawing and managing these funds is because the family asked me to. They are heartbroken and stressed and grieving, and they really don't want to think about money at the moment.
This family is so amazing and full of faith and hope that they deserve this financial help and so much more! I am so humbled by them, that this is the least I could do for them.
