Beautiful Young Person's Life Taken by Hit & Run
Hello, on behalf of La Familia Chuc, a wonderful family based in Los Angeles, we are asking for assistance to help honor and put their loving son/brother/friend to rest after he was killed in a hit and run crash! The family needs assistance with transporting Brian's body to Los Angeles and for funeral services. Each family member of this household works hard to ensure that their children continue their education. We are trying to raise $15000 for the family to help with direct costs, but would love to far exceed that goal so that they can spend some time healing and not worrying about the every day hustle and bustle of surviving in Los Angeles.
The money raised will be used to pay for the transportation of Brian's body from Merced to Los Angeles and for funeral costs.
Brian Chuc, 22 years old, was a beloved student who graduated from the Roybal Learning Center in Downtown Los Angeles. He was a great role model to his siblings and peers attending UC Merced to further his studies and give back to his family who migrated to Los Angeles from Guatemala. The Chuc family has been a source of great inspiration at Roybal LC, from the parents center to each and every class each Chuc sibling has been a part of. Brian is loved and will be missed by every teacher on campus and by his peers and community.
Brian was a junior sociology major and philosophy minor who lived on campus and was an active member in the UC Merced community. The vice chancellor said of Brian, "I had the great fortune to have frequent conversations with him about his academic course work, his understanding of leadership, his passion for UC Merced and his desire to make a difference." One of his faculty members shared, "his inquisitive nature could elevate the conversation in class for everyone. His contributions to the campus community will be missed."
Brian was a loved member of stoked.org, a program of the Bresee Foundation who went skateboarding and snowboarding with them as part of the afterschool programs. He will be missed by his Bresee and STOKED family.
