HRDC Cottages Tree Planting & Landscaping Project

Educatio students and educators asked the question... what is missing from these brightly colored tiny homes on the hill?
The answer was unanimously.... TREES!
We contacted our City Manager, Mike Kardoes and our local paper the Livingston Enterprise about who was in charge of the development and they sent us to Sandy Green and Martin Johnson at HRDC.
We pitched to them that we'd like to help with the design, fundraising and volunteer coordination to help plant trees for each residence in a way that was appropriate for the landscape there and also something the residents and neighbors could be proud of.
To our happy surprise they said "Go for it!"
To date we have partnered with Jodi Litchfield from Litchfield Landscape Designs to create a drought and wind tolerant lovely design; Chris from WoodsRose Market to order trees and shrubs at a discount; Theresa Baldner of Irrigation Innovations for construction; Julie Kennedy with ERA to help fundraise and and City Commissioner Quentin Schwarz to look into opportunities for public funding to get the project done for our community.

This is a true community effort to plant trees, promote equality through quality, affordable housing, and enhance neighborhoods.

Educatio Learning Studio is a K-6th project-based learning school in Livingston, Montana grounded in self-discovery through creativity, experience and service to others.
