Beautiful Garden for Arabella Care home

Thank you so much for clicking on our incredibly important project!
We are working to improve the garden at Arabella Care Home, which looks after people with a range of severe learning disabilities.
Lockdown this year was particularly hard for the residents and carers, unable to see their families and kept inside for an excruciating period of time. During this period, we realised that their experience could have been made far better by turning their bare and uninspiring garden into a far more lively and positive place for all.
As a result, we set about planning a way to create a lovely meeting place for families to visit outside, as unfortunately this has become the new reality for those wanting to see their children and siblings. We have already injected some instant colour and created a more joyful space. We are pleased to say that we have been overwhelmed by the reaction of the staff and residents to our initial efforts. Here's a sneak peak...
Some of the changes we have made so far have involved planting up a couple of beds, clearing a great deal of undergrowth and creating a relaxing seating area.
However, we have a long way to go and have ambitions to plant up more parts of the garden to make it more attractive with pots, trellises and furniture, to encourage staff and residents to linger and provide them with the opportunity to tend the plants themselves. Ultimately we’d like to plant up a vegetable patch!
