My name is Sara, and I am the proud mother of Ava (21 months) and Isabel (3 months). Isabel was born 11 weeks premature, and spent 52 days in the NICU. Let me tell you the story of why I am reaching out to gofundme for help....
My pregnancy with Isabel was completely normal, no problems at all, my due date was 9/9/18. I went to work on the morning of June 20th as normal, and by that night I was being admitted to the hospital for a premature rupture of membranes. I spent 7 days in the hospital, and delivered Isabel via emergency cesarean on 6/27/18. She weighed 2 pounds and 9 ounces. Thankfully, she is a strong little baby.
I was out of work for 2 more weeks, and returned to work on 7/16 because I was out of paid time off. Everyday was such a struggle, having to go to work, pump breastmilk every 2 hours, take care of Ava, spend time at the hospital, and still take care of home. But I still went to the hospital every day for 52 days. On 8/24, Isabel was discharged home. I spent the next 4 weeks at home.
The reason I am in such a financial pickle is because those 4 weeks that I took off to take care of Isabel were completely unpaid. Now that I'm back to work, I've had to reduce my work hours to be able to care for my girls. I've applied for government help, several times, and my applications are still pending. Isabel was supposed to get SSI benefits, but that has not been approved yet, I have only received $30.
Isabel and Ava's father keeps them during the day while I work, so he is not able to get a full time job to help. Daycare would cost approximately $1000 a month for both girls. Isabel is still not old enough to be put in daycare. So if he was to go to work, I would have to quit my job to stay home with the babies.
I have no family close by that can help, other than my 83 year old grandmother, who can only do so much.
I am so far behind on bills, I have disconnect notices on everything. I made just enough on my most recent paycheck to pay only the rent, nothing else. I am getting food from food pantries. Right now, my family of 4 is somehow surviving on less than $500 a month.
I just need some help to get back on my feet. I'm hoping that my applications for food stamps and childcare assistance will be approved, and Isabel's SSI benefits will be approved. I just need some help in the mean time.
I have no problem working to provide for my family, I do whatever is necessary, but I cannot get a second job right now, my daughters need me at home.
Please, anything will help.
