The BVM: Recording Start-Up Expenses

The Beatnik Vending Machine is a unique and new music services company that is fighting to restore the value of music as an art form. This site seeks to finish funding the initial recording studio phase of the business.

We will be using this $1100 to provide two lucky artists with sponsored recording time allowing us to build a portfolio and develop promotional audio. We will also be using it to shoot a promotional mini-film (in HD) showcasing the unique recording process we use.

Our business is geared toward providing affordable, quality music and recording services to developing artists creating new, innovative music. Our goal is to provide a hospitable, friendly environment for artists enabling them to more effectively create, and to help foster a sense of value in their output. Music is horridly undervalued in today's culture. When an entire album is sold for $8.99, but a single painting or photograph can easily sell for $600 it is obvious there is a discrepancy in our cultural appreciation of the importance of music in our lives. New artists are expected to, by themselves, create new music and also brand, market, record and promote it - processes which force them to spend shocking amounts of money and time with only a hope of their music ever being heard by a larger audience. This is a broken system, and developing musicians need a helping hand.

In addition to providing affordable recording and publishing services, we also shoot affordable promotional mini-films, and provide a communal setting for artists to learn from one another and collaborate creatively. We regularly sponsor special releases and teach artists how to stay out of debt, requiring no contracts and allowing artists to maintain 100% of their rights to their own creative works.
