Our sweet dog, Bear, is in excruciating pain every day due to a severe cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injury, which is much worse than we ever imagined. On top of that, he has a congenital deformity in his femur and patella that makes the injury even more complex and debilitating. Bear has been fighting through intense pain, struggling to walk, and sometimes unable to bear weight on his leg at all. The sadness of watching him try and fail to walk without pain is breaking our hearts.

Bear’s injury has already caused significant mobility issues, and without surgery, his condition will only get worse. The pain will intensify, and he could completely lose the ability to walk, forcing him to drag his back legs. Imagine the constant suffering, and the toll this is taking on his body and spirit.

The recommended surgeries are extensive, and Bear urgently needs them to avoid permanent damage and give him a chance at living a life free from pain. The procedures include:

    1.    Tibia rotation – Repositioning the tibia to improve joint stability and help him walk again.

    2.    TPLO modification – A specialized adjustment to the tibial plateau to align with his unique bone structure.

    3.    Femur reconstruction – Straightening his femur, which is severely misaligned, to restore proper leg function.

    4.    Creation of a proper pathway for the CCL – The CCL never had the support it needed from the patellar ligament, leading to its rupture. This surgery will correct that and create a space for it to function as it should.

    5.    Bone fragment removal – Clearing away loose bone fragments that could cause further pain and damage.

The surgery is critical for Bear’s future, and it’s not cheap. The cost is now estimated to be around $4,000 or more. We need your help to cover these medical expenses and ensure Bear can get the treatment he so desperately needs.

Bear has already shown incredible resilience, but we can’t let him suffer any longer. Without surgery, his mobility will continue to deteriorate, and the pain will become unbearable.
