Bear Hugs for Healing
Donation protected
In October of 2010, I was diagnosed with cancer. The impact of the diagnosis was life-changing, to say the least. With 1 surgery guaranteed, maybe 2 and 9+ weeks of intensive chemotherapy, there was little for me to look forward to. The weeks that followed were some of the hardest and darkest times. Cancer had taken over, forcing me into the passenger seat of my life.
At the age of 23, that was a hard pill to swallow. Now imagine going through the same experience at 5 or 8 years old. This is the sad reality for over 200 children currently being treated for Cancer at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital. Their journey will be long and their daily struggle can be debilitating. The goal of the Bear Hugs for Healing campaign is to give 50+ children the opportunity to pick out and customize any Build-A-Bear they would like. In the coming weeks, the children will get a catalog of available bears, sounds that can be placed in the bears, and accessories. Once they've picked out what they want, I’ll set up a time for anyone willing to help to come to the Build-A-Bear at Fashion Place Mall to help put together all the bears.
From generous contributions through partnerships with Investment Auto Sales, Smart Buy Auto Sales, friends, family, and word of mouth, we hope to bring these comforting companions to waiting arms.
We are asking for the smallest of donations to help bring a smile and sense of delight back to these children.
