My family is a lot like yours, but also a lot different. My step dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer which had metastasized into his bones and spread up his spine, with 13 tumors from his prostate to his neck, he was given 6 months to live. When people hear cancer and ask him about it, he automatically tells people his medical diagnosis, but no one ever asks who he is as a person or how he's handling life. My step dad is one of the best people I have ever met. He has provided for my mom and helped her with her 5 children and has loved us as his own even though his 2 children were grown and out of the house years ago. He is the kind of person who would give you the shirt off of his back, knowing that he doesn't have another shirt to put on. He has helped raise my youngest sister from the time she was 3 years old and has taught us how to fish, clam dig and be go getters.

Fast forward two years and our family was hit with more bad news, my mom was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer and is currently in treatment.  When she was first diagnosed they did a needle core biposy followed by a core biposy lupectomy, the doctors removed a 25 CM tumor from her breast as well as 5 lymph nodes, including the sentinel lymph. She recently finished her first round of chemotherapy and will be starting daily radiation in Portland in two weeks. My younger sister Vanessa, was also just diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy a genetic disorder which causes your muscles to degenerate over time and causes developmental delays. Between my step dad being medically retired, my mom going through treatment and my sister having regular doctors appointments and testing in Portland my family is struggling to make ends meet.

It feels as though they are drowning in house payments, electric bills, gas money to get to appointments, and they are a 4 person household  living off of a single income. I would like to try to raise money to offset the cost of their basic needs and medical expenses. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this. And if you are unable to help, please consider taking the time to share this and that will help more than you know.
