Bean Needs Us: Urgent Medical Help
Bean Update – June 27
At 2 AM, we got a call that Bean was having trouble breathing. By 8 AM, the X-ray showed that he had developed ARDS. His lungs were failing, and with multiple organs now affected, the doctor told us that intubating him is not going to work and it was time to say goodbye.
We rushed to the hospital and confirmed the reality with his care team. We had to let him go peacefully and without pain.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for giving Bean a chance and sending him so much love throughout his life.
Once all treatment costs and insurance coverage are finalized, we’ll be donating the remaining GoFundMe funds to an animal rescue or a dog shelter in his name. Please give us time to grieve and process this unimaginable loss. We’ll share more when we’re ready.
---------------------
Many of you know Bean, our sweet, silly boy with the big personality and a bigger heart. He’s survived so much already: being abandoned by a dumpster, battling cancer, a vicious dog attack… and still bringing the biggest smiles to our faces.
But now we’re facing the hardest fight yet.
On June 20, Bean developed pancreatitis and we rushed him to the vet. After a few days at home, he didn’t improve. Today, June 23, we took him to the emergency room. The doctors told us his kidneys are failing, the pancreatitis is worsening, and his heart is being affected. He is now hospitalized at a specialty care facility, fighting for his life.
The estimate for his initial care is $25,000 for 7 days of hospitalization and dialysis: his only chance of survival. After this, we’re looking at 4-8 weeks of regular dialysis to give his kidneys time to heal, estimated at $6000 per week.
Statistically, based on similar cases, his odds of recovery are about 60% but that’s more than enough for us to keep fighting for him.
With our pet insurance, $9,000 will be covered at maximum. So we need help to raise the remaining funds.
Fundraising goals:
URGENT: $16,000 ( $25k - $9k covered by insurance) for initial care
Dialysis treatments: estimate $6000 per week for 4-8 weeks. This treatment will support Bean's kidneys recovery and help him to be back to his old self. We'll have an idea if it's working after the first 2 weeks.
This is the hardest thing we’ve ever had to ask. But if Bean has ever made you smile, if his story touched you, or if you’ve ever loved a dog the way we love him, please consider donating or sharing. Every dollar, every share, every kind word helps us get one step closer to bringing Bean home.
