For over 34 years Beads of Paradise NYC has been dedicated to the art of designing and crafting handmade jewelry, in addition to collecting, showcasing and selling art, antiques and handicrafts from Africa, South East Asia and Mexico. Many of the crafts we buy and resell depend on hand finishing, repairing and refining existing handiwork, all of which we do in-house. We also work directly with clients to design and make custom one-of-a-kind jewelry made from gemstones and other materials that will become gifts and pieces of great sentimental value. Our great love is to cross a diverse array of cultural interests by bringing beads, objects, raw materials, and antique items to New York City, so our clients can explore to the possibilities of connecting with other cultures and history in a significant and relatable way. We have made presentations at the Rubin Museum and the Metropolitan Museum on beadwork and sourcing Culturally Significant Arts, Crafts and Jewelry. In our workplace in the easy to access Union Square / Flatiron district, we hold classes weekly as outreach to people wanting to understand jewelry making. These classes include Elders as well as Students of all different ages and circumstances. Classes have also been given in Local Schools to encourage creativity and openness to other cultures.

As news of Covid-19, along with safety regulations spread, our business was affected by a 75% drop in income beginning March 1, 2020 . By March 16, 2020 we moved to reduced hours to limit the exposure of our staff and clients. By March 21, 2020, we shuttered the store indefinitely by mandate of NYS. Our workplace has been closed since March 22, 2020. After 34+ years in business, any donations would be very deeply and gratefully accepted to keep this landmark business open and continuing to thrive. The alternative of us closing our doors forever is unfathomable. We have a wealth of clients that began coming to Beads of Paradise as children with their parents, and have continued to come as they grow into teens, as they become adults and parents themselves, and with their own children and grandparents they start a new generation of the Beads of Paradise family. We serve designers and artists, costume departments and museums, casual beaders to professional jewelry makers, to those just looking to see and experience something new, beautiful and interesting. We are here for the Community — a colorful, friendly, inclusive little world of its own inside New York City.
After much thought and many of our regulars have been reaching out to us about how they can help keep Beads of Paradise NYC alive and flourishing, we have decided to set up Go-Fund-Me page. Please donate whatever amount you can feel you can spare. Please help us stay alive and serving our Community of 34 years worth of Friends, Patrons, Saints, and Family.
With your help, Beads of Paradise NYC Team will benefit from:

FIRST: try to reconcile with our Rent and Landlords.
SECOND:, to pay outstanding Operating Debts since the Pandemic Outbreak that we have been unable to repay.
