Fighting to survive

Jun 2013. As Gelzia was approaching her 32 birthday, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, the word that nobody wants to hear, and as beautiful,strong and determined young woman she is, she went ahead and face chemotherapy and radiation for six long weeks, that did not work very well, Doctors decided to do a Radical Hysterectomy in Sep 2013. As she was recuperating in Jan 2014 they found another tumor wrapped around the right ureter and a stent was put on,so she could go for a second round of radiation an chemotherapy. In May she started to have complications, urinating blood with lots of blood cloths, on Jun 2,she was admitted in ICU for seven days,for hematuria. Doc. Had a very hard time trying to figure out where the bleeding was coming from,as she was in the hospital the stent came out by itself, a second stent was pit on. And was rejected again.the right ureter was not working at all, and her Bladder was damaged from to much radiation,to save her right kidney Dr.put in a Nefrosthomy tube, and after 4 blood transfusions and sixreen days in the Hospital she went home... 4 days later she was back to ER because the non- stop bleeding,2 more units of blood, and a procedure to cut off main blood supply to the bladder in hopes that it will heel it self , a Nefrosthomy tube was put on the left kidney as well, as today she is still in the Hospital. This has been a very hard fight and as a single Mother of 4 beautiful children: 11,10,9, and almost 8 years old. And at the verge of loosing her home and her only transportation. She is still smiling with hope to came home soon to her children. Being diagnosed with cancer is devastating, and life altering for anyone, she have been blessed by God's grace with a wonderful family and friends who have showered with love and confidence. Many people have asked how they can help,! That we are organizing this site with hopes of helping Gelzia and her children during this extremely difficult time as she continue to be away from work.
