Be well for Maria Lazzarevich


It’s that time of year again for our dear friend Maria’s annual fundraiser! It’s a big deal that this is the THIRD annual because that means she is still fighting and trying to win her battle with cancer! If you have been following along on her blog: www.bubblesandbufandas.com   then you know this year has been a tough one with a lot of ups and downs. Maybe a few more downs than ups but there is still hope (check out her recent blog post for the update!) and she is still fighting and "out living it!" We would be so grateful if you would help us support her and her family.

The Fundraising event be Well at Benigna's will be on 9.28.19 this year with tons of vendors, door prizes and a grand Fall-themed bake sale!

In Maria's words: The goal of this fundraiser is to raise money (in a fun way) to help pay for my cancer treatments that are not covered by insurance. That would include vitamins and supplements, visits to the chiropractor, wellness massages, and travel for whenever we need to go see specialists. Like last year, a portion of the money raised will go toward a program called First Descents. I have participated with First Descents for two years now, and it is nothing short of amazing. The trips remind me that I am "out living it".

The Story:
As Maria & Tim were blessed with their first child, Alexander (Xander), in July of 2014, they were so excited to begin their new journey as parents and to begin their new family.  Just 3 short months into enjoying parenthood, and a few weeks before her 32nd birthday, Maria received devastating news.  She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

This news changed life all around her.  It is beyond heartbreaking to see her facing this disease.  Her strong will and determination are getting her through this battle, but it is a tough journey and there are still miles to go.  Maria always manages to find fun in everything she does, and although this fight is anything but fun, she is giving it her all to be a survivor.

About Maria:

If you are lucky enough to know Maria then you already love her. She is vibrant, kind, funny and always up for an adventure. And now she needs our love and support to help her continue to fight this stupid cancer (as she calls it.)

Maria is a 2001 graduate of Line Mountain High School, a 2005 graduate of Kutztown University & a  graduate of Penn State University, State College Campus, completing her master's degree in Speech Therapy.

Her cancer treatments have left her often tired and in pain but she still tries to be as active as she can. Which most of the time is keeping up with her active 5 year old!

She has always been an avid traveler spending time in Italy, Germany, Peru, Ecuador, Hawaii, and even taught for a time in Spain.

Maria is always upbeat, bubbly and full of life. She exhibits such enthusiasm in whatever she does. She has a deep passion for her husband & son, so much love for her family and friends, and dedication to her job as a bilingual speech pathologist.  She always gives everything she does 110%. Now she needs us to give whatever we can. 

The purpose of this fundraiser is to help defray the medical expenses that are not covered by her health insurance.  We are here to continue to support her through this difficult time. Maria is a fighter and we are all here to stand with her and her family so she can beat this disease. We would be so grateful if you would join us and donate.
