Help Americas House Change Lives in Guatemala
Did you know Guatemala has the largest economy in Central America, and yet more than half of its citizens live below the poverty line -- with more than 15% of the population living in extreme poverty?
Aura Estrada has struggled to make a home for her four children (Eli, 13, Yoni, 12, Justin, 6, and Mariangel, 5). The family, including Aura’s father and brother, currently live in a small dwelling comprised of corrugated tin walls with no plumbing. While Aura currently works with the local municipality it’s not enough income to provide a safe home for her family
Dalila Romero and her two daughters (Anelys, 19 and Graciela, 12) currently reside in a large room with tin walls with Dalila’s father. While Dalila is employed and working numerous jobs, Anelys is volunteering as a pre-school teacher – their combined income is not enough to secure a home for the entire family without additional support.
Enter the Americas House Guatemala Project, with the assistance of our partner Habitat for Humanity the Americas Sales team is coming to the aid of these families. The project is underway and we’re building homes to help these two deserving families. From digging the trenches for the foundation to handing over the keys these homes will be built by Cisco volunteers.
But is that enough?
While we are helping to provide these deserving families homes, there is so much more we can do. But it can only be done with your help. If you aren’t able to participate in building the homes, or if you want to do more after being part of building process this is an opportunity to help these families in need.
Would you please consider donating a small amount for home supplies, clothes and other items to help the Estrada and Romero families make their new houses their new forever homes?
Our goal is to maximize the donations by purchasing items locally in Guatemala and presenting the gifts to the families when their houses are completed mid-summer. Regardless of your donation it will go a long way in helping these families.
