The Honor Network: Be The Good

Donation protected
In the tragic wake of two more mass shootings, here is an amazing way to Be The Good... join us in this mission of love and light!

Many have you have heard the story we told this week about a special group visiting Virginia Beach to bring honor to those killed in the May 31st Virginia Beach Municipal Shooting.

Our post about The Honor Network went viral in a very big way, and hundreds of thousands of people learned about their mission and have been inspired, moved, even brought to tears at the beauty and love this group is bringing to hurting communities.

While they continue to serve VB this week, they will be moving on to El Paso and Dayton in the weeks and months to come. Let's support them as they build up all communities that are suffering just as we have as a community this year.  100% of your donation will go directly to this non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Here is the original post by The Bee & The Biscuit that went viral over the last few days:
---
It’s been a happy tears kind of day
We had a very special encounter, by unexpected visitors. A group of 4 people stopped in to The Bee to eat. They spoke with our manager, Jaime, and handed her $500 and asked that she use it to buy customer’s meals. They had with them 12 remembrance cards, one for each person killed in the Virginia Beach shooting. Each bill paid was to be in honor of one specific person. Customers randomly chosen were presented a paid bill, a bracelet and a photo card representing who this act of kindness was on behalf of. The joy and tears in customers eyes as they realized what this was about was beautiful to witness. These four people, from four different states, are here for one reason this week, to pay honor and show kindness to our city in the wake of tragedy. We aren’t the first city they have visited, we won’t be the last. The Honor Network was born out of the Las Vegas shooting, by a New York firefighter named Tommy (he’s in the red shirt) who had experienced the loss of a dear firefighter friend in 9/11. The Las Vegas shooting galvanized, for Tommy, a movement to visit every single state the 58 victims were from to show honor and spread kindness on the victims’ behalf. It has grown and grown, and Tommy and new friends, bound together by tragedy and the desire to bring light in the darkness, travel together to spread love, generosity and kindness to cities experiencing tragedy. Each visit is named after the number of people lost. Las Vegas is #Honor58 and Virginia Beach is #Honor12. They have repeated this process for Thousand Oaks CA, Parkland FL, Santa Fe, TX and more, including Christchurch New Zealand, all of these cities victims of shootings. The other 3 visitors today each have their own story of sadness. Two of our visitors lost their spouses in the Las Vegas shooting, another one almost lost her life in a home invasion. While their stories are each unique, their bond and goals are the same. To be, in world of devastating loss, the common thread of kindness that sows us all together. So far these four have bought lunch and shared gratitude and love with both the VB police & fire departments, secretly paid for surfboard repairs at Pungo Board House on behalf of surfer Alex Mikhail Gusev who loved to surf, bought a bible on behalf of Ryan Keith Cox, a man of faith, for a mom who was in a store getting one for her son, bought a gift card for dinner out for a man they encountered joyfully working the gate of their RV park who was also was retired Navy veteran just like Bobby Williams, and painted and placed beautiful rocks at Mt. Trashmore that say SMILE on behalf of Mary Louise Gayle who loved working in her garden and had a similar rock of her own, and even distributed 12 backpacks to VB homeless to bring comfort in the heat of summer.
The Honor Network is doing sacred work, creating remembrances, spreading kindness, and honoring beautiful lives gone too soon. May we follow in their footsteps. Watch their journey as they continue to honor our VB fallen family, one by one this week. Follow their Facebook page The Honor Network. Please make a donation, both n gratitude for the love we have been shown here in Virginia Beach, and to pay it forward to other communities in the center of the storm of mass shootings right this very minute! BE THE GOOD!
