Be Loud Studios is a new non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying student voice through radio and digital media. We are launching a summer camp this June that will engage students grades 3-7 through creative exploration, radio production, and outdoor play.
In order to make the camp inclusive and open to all voices, we are rolling out our Scholarship Campaign. We are fundraising $5,000 to ensure access for students who otherwise cannot afford camp.
Many of our student DJs do not have the opportunity to attend any camps this summer, let alone continue this practice with technology creation. This lack of access only widens the achievement gap in New Orleans. Our programs aim to prevent that gap, and to make creative technology accessible and fun for students from diverse backgrounds.
What is Be Loud Studios?
As teachers at Bricolage Academy, we noticed that often our most academically frustrated students were fully engaged in their co-curricular class centered around design, making, and creativity. From that observation, we launched a kid- run radio station that empowers students to write, record, edit, and promote their own radio broadcast. In 2019, we are expanding as Be Loud Studios to engage more students and support other learning communities across New Orleans. Our program empowers the voice of youth through digital media projects, trusting them with the real work of creating.
Our summer camp is just the first step. Help us develop a new way for kids to engage with creative technology in a constructive and responsible way.
What will be happening at Be Loud Camp?
Be Loud Camp is a jam packed week of creative play, digital media production, and community building. We intentionally build opportunities for youth to not only learn specific digital tools, but play and explore on their own.

Where will the money go to?
All money raised will go directly to the implementation of camp programming. The $5,000 will provide scholarships to thirty families this summer.
We have a sliding scale cost based on lunch status and income level and are committed to ensuring that our camp is a reflection of this entire city. To do so, we will provide fundraised scholarships to half of our campers. Your donation will cover both full and partial scholarships.
We are actively enrolling campers right now and need your help in providing access for families that could not afford this opportunity. Any amount will support this effort.
