On June 27th 2019 a group of 10 youth from Scarborough will embark on a life-changing opportunity, where they will travel half way across the world to gain international experience on stewardship and how to pay it forward back to their community.
The BE BOUNDLESS trip to Ghana will help youth understand what it means to be a part of an international community. We want to fill the gap between the global differences and mend the cultures of these small communities in Ghana and East Scarborough. We want to create a common ground. We need the youth to make the absolute most out of this once in a lifetime experience. This includes, ensuring they have the right resources, knowledge, safety, and tools to develop meaningful and impactful strategies with the youth in Ghana, bring it back to Scarborough, and share the true meaning of inclusivity social activism on a global scale.
Travelling to Ghana will allow the youth to journey into a diaspora, challenging them to ask about their history, understand their roots, and apply their experiences to becoming future leaders.
The youth chosen have displayed leadership potential and a commitment to their community. The trip will focus on themes related to resilience, leadership, environmentalism, and the history of slavery and the development of youth-led sustainable social enterprises.
The 15 day trip to Ghana and Benin will be highlighted by the Year of Return symposium, as 2019 will officially mark the 400 year anniversary since the arrival of the first enslaved Africans to English North America in 1619.
Every dollar donated will go directly to fund this exchange opportunity and ensure that our youth will gain a valuable experience!
