We're Kathryn Cesarz and Jesse March and we are so excited to be working on a new physical theatre piece, The Unstrung Harp. A live theatre physical comedy performance inspired by Edward Gorey’s illustrated story of the same name, The Unstrung Harp follows author C.E. Earbrass in his home as he writes his next novel. We're combining physical theatre, physical comedy, shadow puppetry, and stage magic to make this dreamy portrait of a creative in solitude come to life.

Kathryn brings her visual imagination to this new adaptation of a classic illustrated story, and lightning-in-a-bottle physical comedian Jesse March will bring the duo's knack for engaging storytelling to life. We are eager to present the premiere of this show to Humboldt audiences at the fabulous new Synapsis space in Eureka, California, August 5th - 14th.

WHAT WE DO

Jesse and Kathryn began our creative partnership as MFA students at the Dell'Arte International School in Blue Lake, California, where we graduated in 2019. Since then we have combined our efforts to generate original cabaret acts, scenes, adaptations and full length shows. Our friends and fans in the Humboldt County (NorCal) area may be familiar with our recent work in The Three Muskeeteers at Ferndale Repertory Theatre (Jesse), The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised] at North Coast Repertory Theatre, Around the World in 80 Days, called "simply the best holiday show from Dell’Arte in years, and Jesse and Kathryn's frequent performances as their comic characters The Devil Herself and her emotional support demon, Belpho.

GIVE US MONEY

After a couple of years of live performance cancelations due to the pandemic, we are eager to get our feet wet again with a new piece of work. We are inspired to tell this story of a guy alone in his house; we hope we can help audiences laugh a little at the drama of being locked indoors, and imagine how to get outside and live life again.

HERE'S THE DEAL

Patrons of our show through our GoFundMe are offered a SPECIAL DEAL! When you donate $20 to the virtual campaign, you will gain exclusive access to the professional video recording of our Eureka performance. It's like a ticket to the show that you can enjoy from anywhere in the world!

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

Our fundraising goal of $1250 will allow us to cover the costs of costumes, props, scenic elements, marketing, and fees for the artists collaborating on this piece. We have the lighting master Michael (Spike) Foster designing lights for the show, and the expert actor James Peck has done voiceover narration for the show. Your donation joins forces with the existing in-kind support of rehearsal space at Synapsis, sound editing provided by JM Media Services, and artist support grants from the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

AN IMPACTFUL PROJECT

This production is an important next step for us. After mounting this show, we intend to submit it to festivals and tour it across the U.S. and around the world. Please join this project with us and donate today. We will be so grateful to have you as a partner in our work!
