Support for Injured Skydiving Instructor

On July 8, 2014, seasoned skydiving instructor Robert Mandic was doing a tandem jump when he experienced a malfunction, and a normal landing became impossible.
Thanks to Robert’s level-headed determination and many years of experience totaling over 5,000 successful jumps, both Robert and his student survived the landing. In order to protect his student, Robert’s body absorbed the impact with the ground.
This heroic act came at a hefty price for Robert: he broke both his ankles and several ribs, fractured his spine, and suffered a collapsed and punctured lung. Robert underwent several surgeries at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, and a very long road to recovery has just begun.
Robert has always been committed to his community and to others. Before he discovered his passion for skydiving and changed careers to help bring the joy of skydiving to others, Robert was a police officer for 10 years.
Every adult is a wide-eyed child who dreams of flying. As a tandem instructor, Robert has helped people’s dreams to become realities.
Unfortunately, due to the extent of his injuries, Robert will not be able to walk or move freely for several months. He will not be able to return to work until he fully recovers. With all the surgeries and treatments he has already had and will need to have for a complete recovery, he will quickly drown in hospital and other bills.
Due to the nature of the skydiving industry, Robert doesn’t have medical insurance. We’re asking the community that Robert has served to open their hearts and help Robert with his hospital bills and living expenses.
Most people cannot realize their dreams alone – most people need some help. Over the years, Robert has helped thousands of people realize their dream of flying. Now we’re asking for your help at this incredibly difficult time in Robert's life. Every contribution counts.
