Send Ladonna's Kids to Camp Harrison!

Many of you have met or heard about our dear friend Ladonna over the years. We first met her through Myers Park Presbyterian Church's Camp Friends program when we helped her get ready for camp in 1996 and have remained friends ever since. She is the first to admit she has made some mistakes, but she has worked hard and is still working hard to overcome a difficult childhood, poverty, and at some points, homelessness, all while raising four children on her own for the most part. She is a great mom and a loving person whom we admire very much. She so enjoyed going to Camp Thunderbird as a youth that it has always been a dream of hers for her kids to go to camp. In 2012 the two oldest, Maniea and Natalie were able to go to Camp Harrison on scholarship and loved it. They could not go last summer and now they and their brother Mikal are all old enough. The YMCA was able to scholarship 2/3s of the amount needed so Ellen along with our family and Ladonna's has decided to try to raise the rest! On SUNDAY, JULY 27 from 1:00-5:00 pm we will hold a "Lemonade Stand-Bake Sale and Carnival" in our cul de sac where we will accept donations and have lots of FUN!
