Hello friends, I need to remain anonymous as I am living in an abusive/toxic relationship. I am fundraising to be able to move away to an apartment. Currently, I am dependent on my significant other, who can be emotionally abusive and constantly pressures me to have sex with them when I do not want to. I have been very unhappy in this relationship for a while, however, I kept trying to make it works since they had never physically abused me it didn't seem so bad, especially compared to other relationships I've been in. Additionally, I moved in with them at the beginning of quarantine after being kicked out of my college dorms, so even if I did want to leave, it would've been impossible. However, now that things have been opening back up, I feel safe enough to try to leave.


I am currently searching for a job and apartment, but I do not have any money. I am a first gen student whose parents don't have the means to support, so I moved out. Even if my parents had the money to support, my partner has significantly jeopardized my relationship with my parents to the point that I no longer contact them out of fear for my personal safety and emotional wellbeing. I survive off of scholarships, but because I moved in with my partner at the beginning of the pandemic, I no longer am eligible for scholarships to cover on campus living. On top of that, As stated, I have been applying for jobs, and I am waiting to hear back. I've found various apartments, but cannot apply for them until I have proof of income and I have no one who could co-sign with me. Many of the jobs that I've applied for do not start immediately, either, so I am worried about making ends meet when I do leave. I am disabled and a student, so there are certain jobs I would not be able to do. I am currently eligible for food stamps &amp; medicare but because I live in my partner's house, and they are the head of household, my application is under their name. Therefore, when I leave them, I will need to reapply, leading to a lapse in my access to both food and healthcare.


This gofundme is for 1.5 months of rent, some utilities, furniture costs, and some potential food &amp; healthcare costs when I leave them. I barely have any furniture as is, and I am worried about them taking the little things I do have because in the past when we have fought they have used this against me to keep me from leaving them. I do not own much, but everything I do own is currently in their house, including all my important documents. Until I get an apartment, I have nowhere else to go. A friend of mine has offered to pay the deposit on an apartment, but I need to be able to ensure I have enough to stay in an apartment and not go back to my partner due to financial reasons. Please donate if you can, I am an Indigenous &amp; queer disabled woman trying to make it, but that's very hard to escape abuse as it is without having to deal with homophobia, ableism, and settler colonialism. I am trying to escape the cycles of generational abuse that plagues many Indigenous communities, and that cycle is part of the reason I got here. It's been emotionally damaging quarantining with them, and I would like a chance a being able to have a safe place to heal that I can call my own.
