BBDT Artist Relief Grant

Black Boys Do Theater is a digital platform, community, and movement dedicated to amplifying black voices in theater.  We are for Radical Black Artists who are in need of Support, Resources, and Encouragement to not only survive but thrive. Confronted with the lack of resources for black theater artists, this fundraiser was started to give immediate relief to those in need.

Black Boys Do Theater - Artist Relief Grant is a donation campaign to help support black artists in need of financial support due to the theatre shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to distribute a $250 - $500  grant to theatre artists, including actors, playwrights, directors, scenic, prop, and costume designers, wig, and make-up artists, lighting designers, sound designers, and projection designers.

This year is our 2 year anniversary and I want to give back to my community because they have given me so much!

Black Boys Do Theater Artist Relief Grant will distribute $250 - $500 grants to artists facing financial need.

To be eligible, you must be able to answer ”Yes“ to the prompts listed below. 

I am a practicing artist able to demonstrate a sustained commitment to my work;
I am experiencing financial need;
I am 18 years of age or older;
I am Black/African descent
I have not previously been awarded a relief grant from this fund.

100% of what you donate here will be given directly to artists-in-need. We will be fully transparent regarding where every dollar goes.
