Hey Friends!
My name is Bayley Stewart. I am a singer-songwriter and high school senior from Austin, TX, and I have recently begun working on a project that is incredubly close to my heart, my first professional recording. With your help, I will have the opportunity to record four of my original songs and release them to the public. These songs, I feel, really encompass some of the highs and lows of my teen years, and to be able to immortalize them would be nothing short of unbelievable.
I began writing songs when I was about ten years old. I think it was a place to put my feelings at the time. Music gave me a space to express and process all of the experiences that come with growing into yourself. I’ve been singing forever (I seriously can’t remember a time when I wasn’t singing), and by about age twelve, I started singing “for real.” I sang at special events, in competitions, at coffee shops, basically anytime and anywhere I could. I’m really grateful for this gift; to be able to process and share my experiences and feelings though my own lyrics and music, and to get the chance to sing these songs and put them out in the world.
This collection of songs I’m currently working on came to fruition because I was starting to feel all those wild feelings that come with the ending of a chapter. With “Choose for Me” I was exploring the feelings that came with everyone I know giving me their opinion about my future, especially loved ones. “Thank You, Friend” is an ode to the people surrounding me as I move through my last year in high school, and an expression of incredible gratitude for the experience. “Not Even Mine” is a song expressing anger I was feeling about my place in the world as a woman, specifically one entering a world that is often male dominated and lacks a safety net. “126 Days” is about the ending of my relationship with my parents as someone who lives in their home and over whom they have ultimate control.
With this fundraising campaign, I am seeking your generous assistance in raising money to cover:
Studio time
Production
Session musician fees
Music distribution fees
Packaging design/artwork
Reproduction
This EP is a really huge part of my journey as a musician. I’ve been dreaming of making and releasing a collection of my songs since I started writing. I would love to tour on it a bit this summer and use it next year in college to assist in getting booked around town. I will be doing a limited release for hard copies and release digitally on iTunes and other digital music platforms. Your help with this project would signify the fulfillment of a dream, the means to continue my dream in the short term, and the moment I’ll be able to look back on as the first big manifestation of outside support for my dream.
