Baxxy’s Medical Bills

I’m putting this page together in support of my friend, Amelia Matheson and her beautiful little family (herself, her daughter Mikky and their dog Baxta)
Baxxy was admitted to the Emergency Medical Vet on Sunday the 14th of Jan, after he was found with bloody diarrhoea, heavy panting and frothy vomit. He was instantly put on a IV drip with oxygen and pain meds and had lost so much blood they couldn’t take blood to get a blood test done. They have ruled out sepsis (bacterial infection in the bloodstream) and has been tested for Addison’s Disease.
Currently his back legs aren’t working, he failed his reflex test and he has uncontrollable head bob potentially due to brain swelling from the seizures that occurred on Sunday. Worst case scenario these are happening due to a possible brain Tumour.
At this point in time the Vet has indicated that this case is a difficult one to diagnose as the tests and scans are not giving any clear results. The vet has also said he may not recover fully, and that the road to recovery could be a long one.
Baxxy’s Vet bills have now nearly reached $5000 dollars and Mel has had to withdraw from the 2018 Australian Women’s Ice Hockey Team in order to allocate the funds to the Vet Fee’s to try save his life.
I am hoping that we can all come together to fundraise (even if only in part) to contribute towards the Vet bills in hopes that this unexpected financial stress isn’t too much of a burden on Mel, so she can help the little guy to have the best chance of survival possible. She has hope he will pull through as he has shown signs of slight improvement and doesn’t want to let him down due to vet costs.
She is an incredible person, athlete and mother and friend to many, and I know she will be truly touched by any donations, big or small.
