Help Yvonne with Medical Expenses
On August 14, 2020, I had major abdominal surgery. I am a 51-year-old Black woman, who is the primary caregiver for my aging parents, niece, and nephew.
While recovering from the abdominal surgery, I went to the emergency room on August 29, 2020, where doctors discovered I had blood clots in both legs. I had to have THREE additional EMERGENCY surgeries. Only 75% - 80% of the blood clots were removed. Doctors wanted me to recover in the hospital with intensive physical therapy up to three hours per day.
My medical insurance company denied coverage for this care, and I was discharged after a nearly 3 week hospital stay. After being discharged, I was informed that my medical insurance would also NOT cover my outpatient nursing care or physical therapy. Because I am not working or receiving short- or long-term disability, I have no income. I cannot afford to meet my basic needs, let alone this very necessary medical care as well as the related medications.
My recovery period is anticipated to be at least three months. This fund has been established to cover my physical therapy, in-home nursing care, medicine, and basic living needs during that period.
Won't you help me get the care that I need?
