Thanks everyone for stopping by. This page has been Created for Darrell Morton and Family. Darrell over the past 3 years has been through quiet the "Roller-Coaster" of medical problems. In 2011 this battle started of trying to figure out why Darrell was always so sick and not feeling well. Darrell was Diagnosed with a rare disease called Sarcoidosis (which means your whole body has lots of inflamation, and it causes you to have a very weak immune system) there is currently no cure for this and only medications to treat the symptoms. This has caused him to have several hospital visits and many numerous visits to specialist through out UNC hospital. In addition to this he currently on a daily basis fights Diabetes, High blood pressure and other small problems. In October of 2013 Darrell became very ill again and was DIagnosed with Lysteria (a very bad blood infection) that caused him to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks and came home with a central IV line and anitibiotics.
July 2014- Darrell is once again not feeling well and is Currently in the hospital at UNC again. In June Darrell broke out with a rash all over his lower body and was seen by a Dermatalogist for a skin biopsy and was diagnosed with once again a very rare disorder call "Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis" this means that his vascular system is being affected by some underlying organ disorder, after a Dr. visit and lab work they got the phone call that was not wanted that Darrell was now in Kidney failure. Not to the point of Diaylsis but his kidney's are not working properly and that is causing him to have this other secondary problem. They have admitted him directly into the hospital and over the next couple days to weeks start to figure out what they can do to save/help his kidneys and how they are going to treat his vasculitis. He will undergo a lot of different test as well as a Kidney biopsy to figure out the exact type this is so they can start him on a certain medication for treatment which typically is a immunosuppresive drug.
Through out this all, the family has remained strong but with the mounting hospital bills that have already occured and what will only be made in the next weeks to month figuring out how to treat Darrell the bills will be enormous.
