My name is Be Abolitionist Vegan (most people call me BAV) and I am an organiser for Anonymous For The Voiceless, an international animal rights charity which specialises in street outreach. We use a groundbreaking protocol, which is tried and tested and based on several years of experience, to hold non-vegans accountable and turn them vegan as efficiently as possible.
As well as running regular events in hundreds of towns and cities all over the world, AV organises lots of international campaigns. Last August, I was part of One Dam Month, an amazing campaign where we ran a 9 hour cube every day of August, and dedicated activists travelled from all over the world to volunteer there. Campaigns like this make a huge difference for the animals but unfortunately there are costs involved with running them.
Unfortunately, Anonymous For The Voiceless (AV) lost their sponsors as ironically it is considered to be controversial for an animal rights organisation to focus soley on non-human animal rights. One example of how this came to light was that during the Black Lives Matter protests, a protester held a pig's head wearing a cop's hat. This was blatant human supremacy, which AV is fighting to end, and they spoke up for the murdered pig as it is wrong to use the victim of one injustice to speak up against another injustice (and this video explains perfectly why it is wrong to compare the police to pigs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORqXgcB_0bo). It is absolutely insane that an animal rights organisation would lose funding for this and one of the reasons why I choose to represent AV is that they are non-intersectional and focus on the rights of non-human animals only. Most humans are oppressors of non-human animals and the poor victims deserve to have activists and organisations who focus on their rights.
Many animal rights organisations compromise on the message, for example by not being abolitionist or by making veganism about health and the environment rather than focusing on the victims (which will only lead people to change their diet, not avoid all animal exploitation and they will likely become "ex-vegans" who eat flesh and secretions again. Also, the animal exploiting industries are trying to find ways to make eating flesh and secretions less bad for health and the environment). However, AV always sticks to their values and speaks up for the victims unapologetically, in the way that we would want to be spoken up for if we were in their position, and the fact that they receive so little funding is a huge injustice in itself.
So please share this fundraiser and donate what you can, for the animals.
